Komets Boys Basketball Welcomes RAOA Crew

The life of a high school sports official involves a lot of travel, late nights, and often, a fair amount of scrutiny. So, when a host school goes out of its way to make the officiating crew feel welcome and valued, it makes a significant impact. This was the case for the RAOA crew that recently officiated a boys' basketball game at Kasson Mantorville High School.
Arriving at the facility, the crew prepared for their standard pre-game duties. However, their visit began on a high note when they discovered a gesture of appreciation awaiting them. The Kasson Mantorville Boys Basketball program had prepared individual blue gift bags for each official. Affixed to the front of each bag was a label with the distinct Komets logo and a clear, direct message: "Thank You For Officiating! We Appreciate You!". Next to the bag sat a bottle of Fruit Punch Powerade, a practical and thoughtful item for the officials to have on hand before the game.
This proactive display of sportsmanship from the Komets' coaching staff and student-athletes did more than just provide refreshment; it set a tone of mutual respect for the evening. In an environment that can sometimes be intense, taking a moment to acknowledge the essential role of the officials is a powerful statement. It reinforces the idea that everyone on the court—players, coaches, and officials—is part of the same educational athletics ecosystem.
The RAOA officiating crew would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Kasson Mantorville Boys Basketball program for their hospitality. The thoughtful gift and the welcoming atmosphere were greatly appreciated and served as a reminder of the positive relationships that are at the heart of high school sports.
