13th Annual Southeast Minnesota Official's Camp

Developing the Next Generation of Basketball Officials
For over a decade, the Southeast Minnesota Official’s Camp has been a cornerstone for those looking to master the art of officiating. As it enters its 13th year in 2026, the camp continues its mission of providing "the highest value camps for basketball officials in the area". This year, the program will be hosted at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN, in partnership with TriState Tournaments.
Pathways to Progress
The camp offers two distinct tracks tailored to an official's specific career goals:
High School Camp: Focuses on three-person mechanics and coverage specifically for the high school level. This track is ideal for those seeking credit toward MSHSL and WIAA clinic requirements and offers exposure to local assignors for regular season and playoff games.
College Camp: Dedicated to those currently in or aspiring to reach the women’s college basketball level. The curriculum provides a "sole focus on women's college mechanics, coverage, and philosophies". Attendees have the opportunity to work in front of Division II and III assignors from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
A Comprehensive Learning Experience
The Southeast Minnesota Official’s Camp distinguishes itself through an immersive, interactive environment. Every camper is guaranteed to officiate at least 3 games using three-person mechanics. The learning process is supported by:
Interactive Classrooms: Sessions featuring multiple presenters and guest speakers to discuss game philosophy and technical rules.
Elite Clinicians: Up to two clinicians per court provide real-time evaluations and feedback.
Video Breakdown: Clinicians provide a detailed video review immediately following at least one of the camper’s games.
The Road to the Tournament
The results of the camp speak for themselves. Numerous past attendees of the high school track have gone on to work section and state tournament games. Similarly, many college camp participants have been hired at the Division II and III levels, earning both conference and national tournament assignments.
Beyond the court, the camp fosters a community atmosphere. The schedule includes an optional camp social at Brewski’s Pub and Grill, allowing campers and clinicians to share stories and talk basketball in a relaxed setting.
With registration now open, officials are encouraged to prepare their full uniforms and head to Winona to gain the "most honest, constructive, and productive feedback possible"
